Software Updates

NOTE:

  • You will need the USB cable provided with the UbiDuo to download software from a PC to your UbiDuo.
  • You will see the file name "Bundle.bin" used in these instructions, but the actual file name will be different ("v162Bund.bin" for example).
  • You must follow the upgrade procedure below two times - once for each half of the UbiDuo.
  • While upgrading software, the UbiDuo must stay plugged into an AC power source.

UbiDuo Firmware, Version 1.62 - Download

To update software to the UbiDuo, you must first download the software release from this web page to your PC. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Move your mouse pointer to the Download link above and click the right mouse button. This will pop up a menu next to the mouse pointer.
  2. On this menu, click the Save Target As... or Save link as... menu option.
  3. You can then specify where on your PC the file will be saved. Make a note of the location where the file is saved so you can find it later.

These instructions are divided into three parts, because you first start the process on your UbiDuo, then you copy the software from your PC to your UbiDuo, and finally you end the process on your UbiDuo.

Part One - UbiDuo

  1. In the Main Menu, use the arrow keys to highlight the Settings icon and press Enter. Use the arrow keys to highlight the S/W Update icon and press Enter. The Update Software screen will appear.
  2.

  3. Press Enter. The next screen is shown.
  4.

  5. Plug one end of the USB cable into the UbiDuo (the USB port is labeled on the right-hand side of your UbiDuo; see picture below), and plug the other end into your PC.
  6.

  7. On your UbiDuo, press Enter. The following screen will appear, prompting you to move (copy) the software update file from your PC to the UbiDuo:

Part Two - PC

  1. After attaching the USB cable, your PC should detect a new device and open an Explorer window. If your PC does not open a new Explorer window, go to My Computer and look for a new Removable Disk. Double-click the left mouse button to open an Explorer window. In the example below, the PC already had one Removable Disk(E:), the UbiDuo was added as Removable Disk(F:). The letter of your PC's removable disk drive may be different than the example shown.
  2.

  3. You need to have two Explorer windows open on your PC.
  4. Window #1: Contains the new software file that was downloaded from the sComm website.

Window #2: Represents the UbiDuo, which, in this example showed up on the PC as Removable Disk(F:).

  5. Copy the software update file from the location where it was saved to your UbiDuo. With your mouse pointer positioned over the name of the update file, press and hold the left mouse button and then drag the file from Window #1 to Window #2. Release the left mouse button and the file should be copied into Window #2.

Part Three - UbiDuo

  1. Your UbiDuo should still display the following screen:
  2. Press Enter.
  3. The UbiDuo will now check to confirm that the file copied from your PC is the correct file type. If the file is approved, the UbiDuo will show the following screen which will name the software file that you copied from the sComm web site. After you press Enter, the UbiDuo will display a series of windows informing you of the progress of the software update.
  4.

  5. The last message window on the UbiDuo will tell you that the software update was successful.
  6. The UbiDuo will power off.
  7. Unplug the USB cable from the UbiDuo before powering it back up.
  8. sComm recommends that you check the software update version after all upgrades to make sure that the version numbers match. On your UbiDuo, in the main menu, use the arrow keys to highlight the Settings icon and press Enter. Use the arrow keys to highlight the View Settings icon and press Enter. Use the down arrow key and look for the below text displayed on your UbiDuo screen. If this information does not match the display on your UbiDuo after the upgrade, then you should repeat the software upgrade process.
